Company Have A Boiler? How To Prepare For An Emergency

If your company uses a boiler you need to be prepared in case there is an emergency. You also need to know what you should do if you do have an emergency. Keep reading to learn more about this so you and your employees will stay safe.

Create a Backup Plan

One thing to do is to have a backup plan for your fuel. If you have a natural gas boiler, you should have a second fuel line in place. The last thing you want to have happen is to run out of fuel as this would make you stop business operations. This would not only make you and your employees uncomfortable, but you would also lose a lot of money.

You can contact your boiler services company to have a second fuel line in place so you will be ready.

Learn the Shutdown Procedure

You also need to know what the procedure is for an emergency shutdown just in case you have an emergency. In order to shut down a boiler, you must follow procedures in the proper order to ensure that you stay safe and will prevent your boiler from becoming damaged.

If you are not sure what procedure you should follow contact the manufacturer of your boiler to find this information.

Install Fuel Connections Outside

You should also consider having fuel connections installed outside of your building along with the inside connections. You never know if you will have problems with the inside connections. If so, having outside connections would be beneficial so you could reconnect everything from the inside to the outside.

Who you hire to have this done can show you how to do all of this, such as reconnecting everything. If you do not do this, you could go without your boiler for hours or even days if there are problems with it.

Be Ready to Evacuate

No matter how well you take care of your boiler problems can still happen. There are some problems that are much worse than others, however. For example, if there is any type of gas leak you and your employees need to evacuate your building and then contact emergency boiler services.

Once you create a backup plan go over this plan with all your employees so they will understand what they should do.

Your boiler company can give you much more information about this so you will be prepared for anything that may happen. Contact a local boiler service for more information.
